Current and Projected Projects

General

Bouygues has begun negotiating the building of a twenty-eight kilometer metro in Casablanca, a scheme which would require substantial French financing and political support to have any hope of success. Lyonnaise des Eaux is deep in negotiations over a management take-over of Casablanca's sewerage and water system.

The Mannheim-based Kraftwerke will supply turbines for the Jorf Lasfar power station in Morocco, for which ABB's private investment arm is a co-sponsor.

Franchising

In addition to McDonald's and four Pizza Huts, which have had successful openings in Morocco, Dairy Queen has recently opened a restaurant in Rabat. A Moroccan franchisee has signed a contract with Subway Sandwiches and intends to sign another one with the fast food chain Brennans. There appears to be an ample market for additional fast food chains. Hotels and motels, automotive parts and services, dry cleaning business equipment and services offer additional franchising opportunities in Morocco.

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) is currently running a successful program that arranges master franchise agreements between US franchisers and local franchisees.
